Whole Wheat Pita …
Ingredients
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 package quick-rise yeast
  • 1 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar and yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and olive oil and stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
  5. Let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 30 minutes).
  6. Punch down the dough and divide into 8 equal pieces.
  7. Roll each piece into a round disk about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  9. Place pita bread on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
