- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 package quick-rise yeast
- 1 1/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar and yeast.
- Add the warm water and olive oil and stir until a soft dough forms.
- Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
- Let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 30 minutes).
- Punch down the dough and divide into 8 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a round disk about 1/4 inch thick.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Place pita bread on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
