- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup red onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until lightly browned.
- Stir in oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes; cook for 1 minute.
- Mix in diced tomatoes and tomato sauce; simmer for 10 minutes.
- Spread 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese in the bottom of a 9 inch deep dish pie plate.
- Pour tomato mixture over cheese.
- Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over top.
- Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
