Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup red onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until lightly browned.
  3. Stir in oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes; cook for 1 minute.
  4. Mix in diced tomatoes and tomato sauce; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Spread 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese in the bottom of a 9 inch deep dish pie plate.
  6. Pour tomato mixture over cheese.
  7. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over top.
  8. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
