Vanilla Layer Cakā€¦
Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a large bowl using an electric mixer, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add in the eggs one at a time until completely incorporated.
  5. Add in the buttermilk and vanilla extract and mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool before frosting.
