- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- In a large bowl using an electric mixer, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs one at a time until completely incorporated.
- Add in the buttermilk and vanilla extract and mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before frosting.
