Vada
Ingredients
  • 1 cup chana dal
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
  • Oil for deep frying

Steps
  1. Soak the chana dal in water for at least 2 hours.
  2. Drain the water and grind the soaked chana dal into a coarse paste.
  3. Add asafoetida, cumin seeds, black pepper powder, red chilli powder and coriander leaves to the paste and mix well.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into round vadas.
  6. Deep fry them until golden brown on both sides.
  7. Serve hot with chutney or sauce.
