- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- salt and pepper to taste
- Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until tender.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Serve over your favorite pasta!
