Texas-Style Chiliā€¦
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds ground beef chuck
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with juice
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed

Steps
  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic and cook until tender.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in the cumin, chili powder, oregano and cayenne pepper.
  5. Stir in the tomatoes with juice and bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes.
  7. Stir in the kidney beans and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
