Sweet Cornbread
Ingredients
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup milk

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the egg, butter and milk.
  4. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just blended.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 8 inch square baking pan.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cornbread comes out clean.
  7. Cool before serving.
