- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9 inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
- Spread batter into prepared pan. Arrange strawberry slices on top of batter.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean.
- Cool before serving.
