Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9 inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
  4. Spread batter into prepared pan. Arrange strawberry slices on top of batter.
  5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean.
  6. Cool before serving.
