Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk; mix just until incorporated.
Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan. Arrange sliced strawberries over batter. Top with remaining batter.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes in preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean. Allow cake to cool in pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto wire rack.
