- 1 lb spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes.
- Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the red pepper flakes, if desired. Stir in the tomato sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Drain the spaghetti and add it to the sauce. Simmer for another 5 minutes or so to let the flavors blend.
- Serve with grated Parmesan cheese.
