Southern Buttermiā€¦
Ingredients
  • 2 lbs. chicken pieces (breast, thigh, drumstick)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine chicken pieces, buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika and cayenne pepper.
  2. Mix until the chicken is evenly coated with the marinade.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  4. In a shallow bowl or plate, mix together the flour and cornstarch.
  5. Remove the chicken from the marinade and coat in the flour mixture.
  6. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Add chicken to the skillet and cook for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove from heat and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite sides.
