Ingredients
  • 1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Steps
  1. In a large skillet heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
  2. Add shrimp, red pepper flakes, and salt. Cook until shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 3 minutes.
  3. Remove shrimp from pan and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until combined. Cook for 1 minute.
  5. Whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream. Simmer until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted.
  7. Add cooked shrimp to the sauce and simmer for 2 minutes.
  8. Serve over cooked pasta.
