- 1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- In a large skillet heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
- Add shrimp, red pepper flakes, and salt. Cook until shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 3 minutes.
- Remove shrimp from pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until combined. Cook for 1 minute.
- Whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream. Simmer until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted.
- Add cooked shrimp to the sauce and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Serve over cooked pasta.
