- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until evenly brown. Drain off excess fat.
- Stir in the garlic, onion, carrots, celery, thyme and rosemary. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir in. Pour in the beef broth and tomato paste. Season with Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
- Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Pour the mixture into prepared baking dish.
- Cover with mashed potatoes or crust of your choice.
- Bake for 30 minutes in preheated oven or until golden brown.
