Shepherd's Pie
Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until evenly brown. Drain off excess fat.
  3. Stir in the garlic, onion, carrots, celery, thyme and rosemary. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir in. Pour in the beef broth and tomato paste. Season with Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Pour the mixture into prepared baking dish.
  7. Cover with mashed potatoes or crust of your choice.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes in preheated oven or until golden brown.
