- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup milk
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and salt.
- Cut in the shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk until dough forms.
- Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute.
- Roll or pat out dough to 3/4 inch thickness.
- Cut with a floured 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
