Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. Cut in the shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk until dough forms.
  5. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute.
  6. Roll or pat out dough to 3/4 inch thickness.
  7. Cut with a floured 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
  8. Bake at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
