Ingredients
  • 1 lb. sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cups diced apples
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh sage leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 3 cups dry bread cubes
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 2-quart baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet cook sausage over medium heat for 5 minutes or until no longer pink, breaking up with a spoon.
  3. Add celery and onion; cook for 5 minutes more or until vegetables are tender.
  4. Stir in apples, butter, sage and thyme; cook for 3 minutes more.
  5. In a large bowl combine sausage mixture and bread cubes; mix well.
  6. Toss with enough broth to moisten.
  7. Spoon into prepared baking dish.
  8. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until heated through.
