- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup long grain white rice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 1/4 cups vegetable broth or water
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the rice and turmeric, and stir to combine. Pour in the broth or water, add the salt, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
- Serve warm.
