Poppyseed Bagels
Ingredients
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons poppy seeds

Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine the bread flour, salt, sugar, and active dry yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and vegetable oil. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise for about an hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  6. Press your thumb into each ball to make a hole in the center. Stretch out each bagel to make it larger.
  7. Place each bagel onto a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
  8. Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool before serving.
