- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 cups diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1/4 cup heavy cream or coconut milk (optional)
- 1 cup diced paneer cheese
- Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the turmeric, cayenne pepper, garlic, and ginger and cook for another minute.
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the tomatoes and garam masala and cook for 5 minutes.
- Stir in the cream or coconut milk, if using, and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the paneer cheese and cook until heated through, about 2 minutes.
- Serve hot.
