- 1 lb macaroni
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 cups milk
- 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook macaroni according to package instructions.
- In a separate large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour, garlic powder, and onion powder and whisk together until smooth.
- Slowly pour in the milk while whisking. Continue whisking until mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Add the shredded cheese and stir until melted.
- Drain macaroni and add to cheese sauce. Stir together until combined.
- Sprinkle with breadcrumbs before serving.
