Lemon Pound Cake
Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the sour cream, lemon zest and vanilla.
  5. Gradually beat in the dry ingredients until just blended.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
