- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 1/4 cups white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the sour cream, lemon zest and vanilla.
- Gradually beat in the dry ingredients until just blended.
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake for 55 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.
- Cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
