Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent. Add the ground beef, oregano, and basil; cook until the beef is no longer pink.
Stir in the tomato paste and crushed tomatoes. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spread a thin layer of sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 4-5 lasagna noodles on top of sauce. Cover with 1/3 of remaining sauce and 1/2 of mozzarella cheese.
Repeat layering twice more, ending with a layer of sauce. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45 minutes.
