- 1 cup white sugar
- 4 black tea bags
- 2 quarts water
- 1 cup kombucha starter
- Bring 2 quarts of water to a boil in a large pot.
- Add the sugar and stir until dissolved.
- Remove from heat and add the tea bags.
- Let the tea steep for 15 minutes, then remove the bags.
- Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
- Add the kombucha starter and stir.
- Pour into a glass jar or container and cover with cheesecloth or paper towel.
- Let sit at room temperature for 7-10 days, checking daily for desired flavor.
- Once it has reached your desired flavor, strain out any solids, bottle and refrigerate.
