Italian Bread
Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water

Steps
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt and yeast.
  2. Add the olive oil and warm water and mix until everything is combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the dough and shape into two loaves. Place on an oiled baking sheet.
  6. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  7. Bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before slicing.
