Indian Spiced Rice
Ingredients
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 tablespoons ghee or butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Steps
  1. Rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the ghee or butter over medium heat. Add the spices and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add the rinsed rice and salt. Stir to coat with the spices.
  4. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until all of the liquid is absorbed.
  5. Remove from heat and fluff with a fork before serving.
