- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 3 tablespoons ghee or butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the ghee or butter over medium heat. Add the spices and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the rinsed rice and salt. Stir to coat with the spices.
- Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until all of the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and fluff with a fork before serving.
