Idli Upma
Ingredients
  • 2 cups cooked idlis (rice cakes)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ¼ teaspoon asafoetida (hing) powder
  • 10 curry leaves
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)

Steps
  1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the mustard and cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  3. Add the asafoetida, curry leaves, onion and green chili and sauté until the onion is softened.
  4. Add the turmeric and red chili powders and mix well.
  5. Add the cooked idlis and mix gently until they are heated through.
  6. Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
