- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9 inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine the cocoa, flour, baking soda, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the sour cream.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in preheated oven. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.
- Cool cake in pan 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
