Ingredients
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 jalapenos, seeded and finely chopped
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk or sour cream

Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the honey, jalapenos, eggs and buttermilk or sour cream.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Pour into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven until golden brown. Cool before cutting into squares.
