In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, egg, bread crumbs and Worcestershire sauce. Mix together until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Form the mixture into four patties and heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 4 minutes on each side or until cooked through.
Remove from heat and set aside.
In a separate skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon of oil. Add 1/2 of an onion that has been thinly sliced. Cook for 3 minutes or until lightly browned.
Add 1 cup of beef broth to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes or until the gravy has thickened.
