- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup molasses
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the molasses.
- Gradually stir the sifted ingredients into the molasses mixture. Pour into prepared pan.
- Bake for 60 minutes in preheated oven. Allow bread to cool in pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
