- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 7 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the molasses.
- In a separate bowl, stir together the ginger, cinnamon, cloves, flour and baking soda. Gradually beat into the creamed mixture until well blended.
- Press dough into prepared pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in preheated oven.
- Cool before frosting with your favorite icing.
