French Bread
Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water

Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar and yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape into two loaves.
  6. Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
