Fish and Chips
Ingredients
  • 2 large potatoes
  • 1 lb. cod or haddock fillets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beer, chilled
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Steps
  1. Peel potatoes and cut into 1/4-inch thick slices.
  2. Mix together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Add beer to the flour mixture and stir until a thick batter forms.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Dip potato slices into batter and place in the hot oil.
  6. Fry until golden brown on both sides.
  7. Remove from skillet and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  8. Repeat with remaining potato slices.
  9. Season fish fillets with salt and pepper.
  10. Dip fish fillets into batter then place in hot oil.
  11. Fry until golden brown on both sides.
  12. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels.
