Fish & Chips
Ingredients
  • 4 cod fillets
  • 4 potatoes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup cold beer or club soda

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Peel and cut potatoes into 1/2 inch thick slices.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt and pepper; stir in the beer or club soda until a thick batter is formed.
  4. Dip each potato slice into the batter, coating completely.
  5. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry potato slices on each side for about 2 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  8. Place fish fillets onto a greased baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork.
  9. Serve with chips and tartar sauce.
