Everything Bagels
Ingredients
  • 4 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and oil and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes.
  4. Place the dough into an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Divide into 12 pieces and shape into bagels.
  6. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil bagels in salted water for 2 minutes. Flip over and boil for another 2 minutes.
  8. Brush with egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon of water) and sprinkle with sesame seeds or other toppings of your choice.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
