Custard
Ingredients
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
  3. Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until it thickens enough to coat the back of the spoon.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Pour custard into individual dishes or one large dish. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
