- 2 large yellow onions
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3/4 cup beer, or as needed
- Peel and slice the onions into thin rings.
- In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt and pepper.
- Pour in enough beer to make a thick batter.
- Dip the onion rings into the batter and coat thoroughly.
- Heat oil in a deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels before serving.
