Ingredients
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk or milk

Steps
  1. Slice the onion into 1/4 inch thick rings.
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
  4. Dip each onion ring in the egg mixture, then in the flour mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  6. Fry the onion rings in batches for 3 minutes per batch until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
