- 1 large onion
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3/4 cup buttermilk or milk
- Slice the onion into 1/4 inch thick rings.
- In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
- Dip each onion ring in the egg mixture, then in the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Fry the onion rings in batches for 3 minutes per batch until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
