Season the chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning and salt and pepper. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5 minutes on each side or until cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Add the garlic to the same pan and cook for 1 minute. Add the mushrooms and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 2 minutes.
Stir in the cream or half-and-half and simmer until thickened. Return the cooked chicken to the pan and spoon some of the sauce over it.
