- 1 lb. elbow macaroni
- 4 tbsp. butter
- 4 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.
- Add the macaroni and cook according to package instructions.
- Drain and set aside.
- Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Slowly whisk in the milk, whisking continuously until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheese, salt, and pepper until melted.
- Combine the macaroni with the cheese sauce in a large bowl and pour into a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
