Cornbread
Ingredients
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease an 8 inch square pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine egg, buttermilk and oil. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Cool before cutting into squares.
