- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
- 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, egg yolks and melted butter.
- Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Fold into batter.
- Preheat waffle iron to desired temperature.
- Spray with non-stick cooking spray if necessary.
- Ladle batter onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown and crisp. Repeat with remaining batter.
