Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes with green chiles, undrained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (4.5 ounces) chopped green chiles, undrained
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Steps
  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add chicken broth, tomatoes with green chiles, black beans, green chiles, cumin and chili powder; bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Ladle soup into bowls and serve.
